DAEMON: the guardian spirit of a person or place.
DOPPELGANGER: the ghostly duplicate of a living person.

Now in it's 7th year, and with contemporary "terracotta army" of about twenty-five thousand figures
faces and fantastic images made to date at a variety of festivals throughtout the U.K. and Europe,
the workshops continue to astonish and delight wherever they go.

An unusual mixture of participatory workshop and exhibition, the project creates a unique record of any event, big or small. We can photograph self-portraits digitally and these can then be included on festival websites - see our Gallery

Suitable for all ages and abilities, it is a great opportunity to get your hands dirty and surprise yourself.
The main aim of the workshops is enjoyment and a chance to play freely with the possibilities of self-expression: allowing the imagination to take over.

A festival atmosphere is great for experimentation and enjoying the benefits of letting go.

Some of the places we have worked at so far include:

    Glastonbury
    W.O.M.A.D.
    The Garden of Delights, Manchester
    Rocket Festival, Spain
    Bestival, Isle of Wight
    EXIT Festival, Serbia
    The Larmer Tree
    Roskilde Festival, Denmark

"Thanks for all your hard work, it was wonderful and fitted in just right! (Bestival)

"No 1 in the Top5 alternative Glastonbury experiences! (Undercover Magazine)

The workshops were inspired by Antony Gormley (the maker of the Angel of the North) and his "Field" projects. We are aiming to provide individuals with a chance to make a statement about what makes each one of us unique in this crowded world. In a festival where we may be part of a crowd of thousands, united in a common experience as an audience, we each have our own story.

It is increasingly important to give voice to this individuality in a society where we look to strangers as role models and are under immense pressure to conform to idealised media images.
The workshops can give a meditative moment ot therapeutic calm during a busy festival programme.
Primarily they are great fun, and a good chance for families and friends to work side by side, without pressure, to create something tangible as a memento of the day.

The results can be taken home at the end of the day, or be left to join the touring "terracotta army" (we bring a small exhibition to each event). We can take the figures away to be fired once dry, and they are stored until the following year (or local potters are welcome to arrange firings so figures can be left with the event).
